International conference "Her Future is Equal"

On Monday 24th May 2021 Klaipeda Social and Psychological Support Center, National Association Against Trafficking in Human Beings, Lithuanian Women's Lobby, Lithuanian Women's Rights Enforcement Association, Abolitionist Platform and Member of the Lithuanian Seimas Dovilė Šakalienė will be launching a discussion Her Future is Equal as a part of Brussels’ Call campaign, calling for action to realize Lithuania as a member of the European Union free from sexual exploitation and human trafficking. We promote the Equality Model as a proven approach to combat the complex issue of sexual exploitation.

The purpose of the discussion: to seek legal reforms in Lithuania that could help to prevent prostitution as an exploitation of women and girls as one of the forms of violence and provide adequate legal liability for sex buyers (clients). The discussion will also focus on the Exit program for women engaged in prostitution.

This discussion will bring together: voices from civil society campaigners and political champions, frontline and advocacy experts, MEPs, MPs and a member of the UN CEDAW and CRPD Committees, who agree that we must act now in order to bring an end to coercion, violence and exploitation of women and girls, particularly those affected by prostitution.

We hope you will join us at this important event as we set forth our calls for the implementation of the Anti-Trafficking Directive and the introduction of EU legislative action on sexual exploitation as part of a legislative framework to tackle violence against women and girls.
